Be Witnesses

I’m amazed at what God wants to do if we just let Him... I get to equip people to be a firecracker for Jesus; to equip people to be able to carry the gospel. It’s one thing to do stadium crusades to get people saved, it’s another thing to have a couple thousand-plus people be transformed to go out in public and be the hands and feet of Jesus. And I’m totally for crusades—where people who have heard the gospel get saved and get plugged into local churches. The heart cry of God is for every one of us to be a witness, and that’s the goal of the gospel. There are a lot of places that have taken the Holy Spirit out of the equation, and it’s not okay. Jesus paid a price for every one of us to become witnesses of the gospel.

I hope that if you’re reading this, you follow and are a part of what God is doing at Lifestyle Christianity because you want to be a witness. I hope that you’re here because you want to be used by God, because honestly, this Christian life should never be boring. How often do people approach you about Jesus out in public? It makes such a difference in your daily life! Aren’t you tired of being afraid to open your mouth? Do you want to just keep the gospel to yourself? Do you want to go to Heaven without taking anyone with you?? Odds are that you will pass somebody in the store in the next two weeks who is not going to be on the earth much longer. I think that you and I should be concerned about that.

This whole world—this life that we’re in—is crazy because it gets you so focused on it. It gets you focused on self-centeredness, it gets you focused on “me, myself, and I.” The world is geared toward the self. It’s “be free” “be me” “just be you, boo.” And freedom has become a god, but freedom is not a god. God is freedom. It’s a completely different thing and our minds are so wrapped up in what we’re seeing and what we’re going through, but the Word of God is the only thing that will take you out of that scenario and get you focused on “things above” (Colossians 3:2). And that’s not something that everybody’s pursuing, yet life is screaming so loudly that you don’t have to pursue it—it pursues you. The world pursues you every day of your life.

You have to change the way that you think. Romans 12:2 (NKJV) says, “... do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…” The world is not going to stop. It keeps coming. See, satan is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4)—the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2)—and if you don’t do something to actively change that, you’re going to go down the same road you’ve always gone before. Like a farmer who goes out and plants seed because he wants to see a crop, if you’re not going to plant the seed, you’re not going to see the crop. And if you spend your whole life never planting seed, then you never have anything growing. The world doesn’t stop. It wants to overwhelm you, overtake you, and it wants to get you focused on everything that’s wrong around you, so that you can never see what’s been made right within you.

But when you know what has been made right within you, you can go and share the One who made everything right within you, with anyone you encounter. It’s not complicated. You don’t have to be a theologian or an evangelist to share the gospel. It just requires a lack of selfishness. This isn’t a guilt trip. It’s just a reality check. Is it all about you, or are you all about Him? Because if you become all about Him, you’ll find out He’s all about you, and He wants to live through you and dwell in you, and He wants to snuff out the devil through you.

Challenge for Today: Spend 10 minutes today asking God to show you where He wants to use you as a witness.
